My grandparents old radio was headed for the dumpster. I snagged it and held on to it for awhile and then finally got around to working on it. Once I realized how rotten it was I decided to build from scratch. At that point I decided I would add a motorized liquor rack, newer Bluetooth audio and some lighting. If the original had been in better shape I would've considered just restoring it. It's been hard to duplicate both my Imugr posts and this blog. I'll post a few finished pictures here, and here is a link to a more descriptive album of the build.
This is with the rack up and everything lit up.
This is how the radio sits 90% of the time. I wanted it to look like a refurbished radio with just some newer sounding audio.
Without the rack up and just the grill lights on. This is most common when the kids are having a dance party.
I found some knobs and buttons online and managed to salvage the display and button cover, That was all that was left.
Here's how I found it, nice and moldy.
